Artist's Comments

There's a scene in Boogie Nights where Burt Reynolds and some other great character actor are in the editing room watching trailers for their new plot driven porn. They're watching these trailers and they're hilariously bad and they're so earnest. "It's good, "burt" (or whatever the hell the characters name was) it's really GOOD." "It's the best thing I've ever done."

I was sitting there, after finishing this panel, admiring it. Saying that to myself then realizing that I had heard it somewhere before. I laughed, then made a face, "yeugh." I hope I'm not as deluded as those two characters. That would be up-setting.

I always love seeing the purple avenger, but some crits are necessary here bro..... the left arm is not proportioned properly. it's probably half the size of the right arm.

Also, if she's going to bed, i.e. sitting on the bed already, she should be out of the suit, or at least taking off her boots.... it'd help story wise. Think about how you feel when you're about to hit the bed and the way you disrobe and try to apply it in this scenario.

Outside of that I really think that you could actually publish your own comic of the Purple Avenger..... I really do. I just think there are some things you need to tweak. The fact that the arm got past you before you posted means you need to edit your work (meaning look it over and thoroughly analyze it before it goes to the web for others to see), because you want people to only see your best unless it's just a sketch. You actually are the only Deviant that I follow because of your own original character. you really show how much you love her when you draw her.

I suggest you start reading (don't kick me yet) the Naruto Volumes that they sell. they're 8 dollars and they're good reads with good art.... on top of that the artist, Masashi Kishimoto chronicles the pains and troubles he went through in order to get to where he is doing Naruto on a regular basis, and when i tell you he went through some personal growth, he really had to deal with a lot in his head before he got to this level.... i think you'd benefit from reading his creator owned book along with his story.....

keep your head up, I wish I was were you are with your character..... =]

First; thanks.

Second; the arm is supposed to be foreshortened, but, if it doesn't come across that way I accept it needs more work.

Third; when you see it in sequence it makes sense.

Y'know, thanks, I feel genuinely complimented. One of the things that helped me the most in drawing is referencing the bones and muscles as I am working on it. Eventually you get fast at it. For years I was drawing with my blood sugar screwy and now that I've resolved that it's like going from krypton to earth.

The local library actually has all the Naruto's so why not read them. My friend :iconconfuzion23: has been recommending the same thing, but, for the reason of having someone to carp about the series with. She told me that all the figures are 3D models that he traces now. I can't tell if I'm impressed with that or not.

Until I went to the Kubert school I wasn't very good. And after I still wasn't good. You just do the work, elevate your life condition and eventually you get better. No one knows how it happens, you just keep making an effort.

I saw the page, I just found it a lil weird still seeing a superhero wearing their costume while sitting on a bed. You wanna see a girl in her panties and bra, or other similar night clothes by the time she hits the bed, you know? try it, see if it works, if not, scrap it. I think you'll like it though=]

With regards to Naruto, he does the 3d models now simply for time. if you look at the art, it really doesn't look much different at all, AND the backgrounds are SICK, there's so much detail in the work.... My point is that good work is still good work, and if you want to be mad at him for using the models, this may make you feel better about it.... he was drawing basically the same before the 3d modeling was used to speed up the process. They're up to volume 40 in japan and 29 here, so it's helped him get us more quality stories to read=] Give it a try=]

LOL...I love ur critics too funny....^_^' Actually I like the fact that she still has her suit on while flopping on the bed cuz it shows just how tired she is. I dunno about anybody else but when I get home from work I just fall straight on mai back and chill for like twenty minutes then get up and change into mai pjays. and I thought she did take off her shoes on the last page. Anyhow nice job I do have to agree about the arm though it is a little on the small side. But hey it's still in pencil mode so you should beable to fix that relatively easy. Oh yeah, and Naruto rules.... =P

I definitely don't think this is the best you've ever done. The arm is way off, but that's not my biggest problem with the panel. The whole thing just feels too 'staged'. Her position, the camera position, the mask flying perfectly through the air... nothing takes my mind out of the fact that I'm looking at a drawing. I'm not pulled into it. I can't tell you what to do to fix it other than to just re-approach the whole thing. My favorite stuff you've ever done was the stuff based off of photos. Because everything felt real. The relationship between the figures and the backgrounds was there because you were drawing from real life - obviously.

I know that feeling though... thinking "this is the best thing I've ever done" and the later going back to it and being like... wtf? A good thing to do is to look at your drawings in the mirror. The mistakes scream at you.

I'll try to call you tonight sometime. I didn't know what that number was last night, but now I put it in my phone under your name. Later.

Oh, you mean the thumb rough. Yeah, there'll be some fan service, don't you worry.

Naw, I'm not trashing him. I think it's brilliant because the thing that kills me is how long it takes to draw me to draw a page. I'm impressed because it frees him up to just do the story, but, I don't know if I could break that part of myself. He can do solid stories with high output, that's admirable. I just feel uncomfortable with it. But if it looks great when it's finished who cares how he got there. Not sure if I'm up that it yet.

It's unanimous the arm is fuct. Will fix. As for your other points, all valid, I just don't know what the approach would be to change it. That one I'm lost on. Yeah, fuckin' call me, punk!!!
